Keeping New Year’s Resolutions or succeeding in any goal takes time and effort. I was recently reminded of this simple technique for time management to help with goal planning.
When prioritizing when you will do a task, follow The 4 Ds of Time Management:
- Do it – These tasks are important and urgent. Get them done right away.
- Defer it – These things are important but not urgent. You can decide to do them later.
- Delegate it – These activities are urgent but not important. It would be better for someone else to do them.
- Dump it – These things are neither important nor urgent. Forget about them and spend your time on other things.
